How Does It Work?
All package options include:

Intake Session
This one hour long session will allow you and your trainer to come up with a solid behavior plan, make sure you and your family are set up for success in maintaining what your dog is learning, and schedule all your dog's appointments.

Selected number of training sessions
Sessions can occur in the home or be pick up/drop off to work in public spaces - yes, a combination of the two is allowed! We strive to focus on whatever you and your dog's goals are.

Transfer Sessions
Transfer sessions last 45 minutes to an hour. They are used to "transfer" the new cues your dog has learned over to you, answer any questions, and adjust any needs or expectations throughout the course of your dog's selected package.

Equipment Package
You will get a booklet to guide you through the things you will learn at the your Intake Session, a treat pouch, a long line, and your dog will get a harness.
Pick Up/Drop Off Options:

- Anyone over the age of 18 can answer the door to give the dog to the trainer
- You can leave your dog in the yard so our trainers can take and drop them off through a back/side gate.
- The trainer can be notified if there is a spare key or fob hidden in the yard
- You can leave a lock box with a spare key or fob on a door/gate
- If you have keyless entry to your home, you can give the code to your trainer
- If you regularly leave a back or side door unlocked, let your trainer know they can enter there

PLEASE NOTE: trainers will not take fobs, house keys, or gate keys off the property at any point
Requirements:

- Dogs must be at least 8 weeks old
- Dogs must be up to date on rabies vaccines

why choose Day Training?
-
Convenient - you only need to be present for a fraction of the sessions your dog has
-
The trainer does all the hard work and you only need to be present to learn hand signals and verbal cues during the Transfer Sessions
-
The trainer will show you how to use the cues in everyday life, even practicing in public spaces during Transfer Sessions if needed
-
The use of food can be faded out with a highly experienced dog trainer so you don't need to keep track of reinforcement schedules, accidentally build bribes into your dog's behaviors, or worry about becoming dependent on lures
-
All you have to do is maintain the behaviors your dog learns!

Day Training faq
Per our insurance, dogs must have an up-to-date rabies vaccines OR positive titer test taken within the last 90 days to qualify for these programs.
See the AVSAB's full position statement and cited sources on puppy vaccines and socialization here.
Does my dog need to be fully vaccinated to start this service?
Just about any problem behaviors you're dealing with can be addressed!
We go over details and expectations and during our Discovery Call and Intake Session.
What behaviors will my dog learn in their Day Training package?
Yes!
All packages require a minimum of a 25% booking retainer.
After that, the remaining balance of your package can be paid off in up to 4 instalments.
Due dates are decided on during your Intake Session.
Are payment plans available for these packages?
Yes! However...
For safety reasons, we do not take more than 1 dog off your property until we really get to know them. This allows us to focus on individual training needs of the animal while maintaining personal and public safety standards.
We can/will work with multiple dogs in the home immediately until you and your trainer agree on multi-dog outings.
Can you train more than one dog at a time?
We're not opposed to using the harness you already have!
We're just picky about harnesses around here because ill-fitting equipment can increase the danger of dog's slipping/backing out and increases the risk of short term and long term injuries.
Because of this, we order appropriate harnesses for each client to make sure we're accommodating each dog's body structure and musculoskeletal movement.
My dog already has a harness. Do I have to get one with my Day Training package?
